If you love skiing, mountain climbing or a well planned railroad then you can play on this map of the Swiss Alps made by NYC911. It is part of an interesting scenario in which you have to be very careful in laying your track.

We have been able to extend our Simutrans South American maps collection by courtesy of gabyregistrado. He made a very nice map of the western part of the Rio de la Plata. It measures 1599×798 and has nice water and mountain features. Apparently the air is very good in this environment.

Feo has made a very cute map of the Valley of Mexico, the historical heart of Mexico and Mexico City. It is only 304×240, so very suitable for low-profile computers or network play. Set water level at -2.
Buen juego!

Sarlock has made a map of Vancouver and its Fraser river. It is a very big and detailed map, sized 6000×2148. Each tile represents 20m, so we are talking about an area of around 120×40 km. Mountain heights are on a logarithmic scale. Be sure to set water level at -9. To date this is the longest map on Simutrans Maps and it might be hard on your computer if you completely fill it up.
So, pack it up and roll on out to Vancouver!

simutrans 112.0 is now available
Simutrans version 112.0 is available at the simutrans forum.
Simutrans is a cross-platform simulation game in which the player strives to run a successful transport system by transporting passengers, mail and goods by rail, road, ship and air between places.*
changes
Multithreading code is now enabled for many more situations, especially loading and saving. The other big change are scripted scenarios, which will change the way simutrans can be used.
ATTENTION: Addons now reside inside a folder “addons” in the simutrans folder. Please move your addons into that folder!

For players, this version adds support for drag&drop station construction, connecting channels between various companies, and other minor upgrades and fixes. The big news, though, is support for scripted scenarios! This promises an entirely new experience for single player mode…
Apart from these, a somewhat hidden feature is that dedicated servers now do not load image data. Thus, they need drastically less memory.
You can find a full changelog and download links for windows, linux, haiku and mac binaries at the International Simutrans Forum.

october screenshot contest: a tale of two cities
A picture from Canada, (Sarlock’s screenshot) won the SMSC contest. (It could not be more fitting in autumn i should like to remark.) Raiser’s contribution was only one vote behind, don’t miss to have a look at all screenshots at the international forum.
Beside showing Canada, remarkable about the winning screenshot are the new trees. A work in progress snapshot of Sarlock’s extensive (winter) tree project for pak128. Over the last weeks he’s been working on high quality conifers and birches with good winter images.
please find larger screenshots and the original captions below.
(This is an extended cross post from the original g+ post.)
