March’s Edition of Simutrans Monthly Screenshot Contest

Another new edition of SMSC is on the way. The subject of this month is Heavy Industries.

Everybody can participate, with only one screenshot of 800 x 600 pixels, in jpg or png formats. You can use any pakset, and the deadline is March 18th. The voting begins on March 19th.

The prize will be a mention of your nickname in the Simutrans Hall of Fame, praises from the whole community and one post including your picture at blog and simutrans.com.

SMSC February 2012: Winner sdog

shropshireWinner of the February edition of the Simutrans Monthly Screenshot Contest is sdog. I found a poster from 1973 and a photo from 1905, both of Shrewsbury Railway Station. The older photo, (taken by a daring young Major A. C. H. Melchett from a montgolfiere) shows the station under construction. A circular line and a tram line were built already, while the tracks for the line to Manchester and Sheffield were being laid.. Built with pak.britain, It gathered 14 votes.

Screenshots by Enkort and Sim, and finally Isaac_Clarke scored seconds and third respectively.

pak128 v2.1.0 released!

The pak128 development team has announced a new release of the pakset. There has been a ton of improvements since last release. Cities now look… well, see for yourself!

This new version brings these changes from previous stable version:

  • New set of residential blocks.
  • Airplane and tram balancing.
  • Two new ferries.
  • New special buildings.
  • New factory production modifiers.
  • Many other bugfixes and improvements.

TileCutter v0.6.1 has been released

A new version v0.6.1 of the Simutrans Building Editor, TileCutter, is now available.

This new version provides a browse dialog for makeobj and several bugfixes like Z dimensions now permitted up to 16, infinite loop in dialog has been removed, irregular buildings and the source version work again.

SMSC January 2012: Winner carlbaker

Autumn River CrossingWinner of the January edition of the Simutrans Monthly Screenshot Contest is carlbaker. The screenshot shows the city in the distance, that marks an important railway crossroads, as well as an interchange for bus journeys into the nearby picturesque countryside. Built with pak.german, It gathered almost half of the total votes. Screenshots by The Hood and mEGA scored second and third respectively.

Pak128.Britain 1.10 released

Just in time for Christmas, a new version of pak128.Britain is out today.  Included in the new release, appropriately, are more snow images for stations and HQs (meaning 99% of the set now has snow graphics), along with a wide range of new road and rail bridges, and a large set of new medieval attractions courtesy of wlindley.
