Rest in peace Dirk

Today is a sad day for the whole Simutrans community. Today we’ve known that an important member is not already among us. With great dismay, we received news that our buddy Dirk Burkholz, just turned 26 years old, died suddenly some days ago. His heart just stopped beating.

pakHD v0.4 is already available

A new version of pakHD has been released. The v0.4 version of the hand drawn pakset is compatible with Simutrans v100 and newer, including the latest 102.2.2 version. There aren’t new addons this time, but the v0.2 addons should work with this new version.

You can download it here or visit the pakHD website.

Server outage

Please note that all resources on Isaac’s server (e.g. the International Simutrans form) are down at this time, and have been so for about 30 minutes as of the time of this post.

Investigations are in progress. I think it’s at the datacenter level (i.e. I have no control over the issue). If so, I do believe this is the first time this has happened.

I will update this post with further information as it becomes available.

EDIT: There is a power distribution issue at the datacentre. I have no current ETA at this time. I cannot recall a similar issue in the past, so I don’t expect this issue to happen again once it’s resolved.

EDIT2: As of 11:02p Central, 52 minutes after initial outage, server has come back up – at least for now. Further updates as warranted.

New playable release of Pak.Excentrique

Long time ago, Hajo, the creator of Simutrans, started a new pakset with the aim of making something special for Simutrans, specially for players who were bored of the common and mainstream graphic sets. The result is a pakset called Pak.Excentrique and we may define it as colorful, unsual and well…. excentrique!

Although the pakset is still under development, this might be the first playable version. It has depots, stations and two types of vehicles.

You can download the pakset at funkelwerk.de, and you can also follow the development at the International Simutrans Forum and funkelwerk.de forum.
