A new version of Simutrans-Experimental is available today: Simutrans 110.0.1 Experimental 9.6. This version addresses the long-standing issue of network play between computers running different platforms.
There have also been some general bug fixes, and one or two small feature changes, but it does not yet incorporate all of the latest changes from Standard, as the priority was to fix the networking. It is anticipated that these changes will be incorporated into the next version.
The pak128 development team has announced that the open-sourcing process of the pakset is finally finished, therefore they have released a preview.
A new version v0.5.9 of the Simutrans Building Editor, TileCutter, is now available.
This new version provides a better preferences dialog and french language support. There’s also available a Mac OSX application bundle in .dmg format.

The issue of interfacing between Windows and Linux clients and servers in online play has not been addressed specifically in this version, but it is hoped to rectify this in a future version.
A new version v0.5.8 of the Simutrans Building Editor, TileCutter, is now available.
This new version provides a completely new save format with much better forward-compatability. This will make it a lot easier to add new features. It also includes bigger icons for a more attractive interface.

This new version provides many tweaks and optimisations, especially for non-Windows platform support and much better handling of configuration/log file storage with platform-specific locations used.

This is the first version incorporating multiplayer and tons of bugfixes and improvements. Due to network mode, the development team had to have this long break. The next releases will come more frequently.
Some changes and new additions have been included like the default savegame format (now bzip2), skins and interface, timeline for headquarters, new features related with winter graphics and drag-and-drop bridges. The main feature added is the multiplayer mode.

Good news for all pakset lovers, we have new releases of old well known paksets.
The Simutrans experimental development team has released a new version of the pak128.Brittain-Ex. The v0.7 seems to be a testing and evaluation version, but it should balance better with Simutrans-Experimental than the standard Pak128.Britain. The dev team has done a great deal of work on balancing this pakset since version 0.6, so it should work considerably better. As a side note, it doesn’t support all Simutrans-Experimental features yet.

On the other hand, the pak64.japan is back after major overhaul. The content is under a mixture of licenses so it won’t be hosted at Sourceforge, but the binaries and the source are available here. Besides, the texts are available for translation at Simutranslator.
